  General Notes:

Believed to have come from a "carriage and pair" family, who disinherited her when she married John ALBINSON, as being beneath her. Eliza's Father, however is shown, on her Marriage Certificate to Thomas HALL, as a Shop-keeper, which begs the question of her coming from a "carriage and pair" family.
Eliza made her "mark" on the Certificate, which questions why she could not sign, given her alleged origin. She was shown as widowed, but John ALBINSON's death date is unknown.

In the 1871 Census was resident with family at 202 Crompton Road, Macclesfield, aged 41

In the 1881 Census, Eliza's birthplace is shown as Chorley, Cheshire.

  Research Notes:

A copy of Eliza's will of 8th Dec 1905 is held, in which she bequeathes all (including all her interest in the LOVATT estate and whatever may arise therein) to Mary Elizabeth, but on her pre-decease, half to her son Harry HALL and half equally between Thomas Edward HALL and William Lovatt HALL. She was then a widow, her Harry having died in 1988.

At the time she is living with Mary Elizabeth at 28 Fleeson St, Rusholme, Manchester and Harry's address is given as 11 Rue de Chartres, Neuilly Sur Seine, France

Apart from the Chorley near Nantwich that Eliza is almost certainly from, there was another Chorley in Cheshire just by Alderley Edge, about 4 miles away. In fact it is the original name for Alderley Edge. When the railway came through the railway people thought that folk would get confused with Chorley, Lancashire, and the new village springing up round the station was renamed Chorley. Wealthy people who bought the big new villas got free first class train travel into Manchester.

In 1888, when Thomas died, they were resident in Moss Side, Manchester
In 1891 Census, 142 Upper Lloyd Street, Moss Side, Manchester with daughter Mary Elizabeth.
In 1901 Census, 154 Maine Road, Moss Side, Manchester with daughter Mary Elizabeth.
in 1905, 28 Fleeson Street, Rusholme, Manchester with daughter Mary Elizabeth until Eliza died in 1909.

• Will, 8 Dec 1905, 28 Fleeson St, Rusholme, Manchester. • Burial: Burial Notes, 16 Oct 1909, Macclesfield Cemetery, Cheshire. No. 17972, Plot Z. Thomas and Eliza, together with daughter Prudence are in this grave.

The grave was purchased on 17/7/1884, by Thomas at the death of his daughter Prudence Ann. They were living at Crompton Rd. Macclesfield at the time.

Joseph Frith was Macclesfield's first Registrar when the cemetery opened in 1866. He died in 1887 and was followed by Alfred Frith for a few years - he must be some sort of relative. Interestingly when Joseph was taken ill and for a few weeks after his death the grants and registers were signed by an Isabel Frith (not his wife) which is an early strike for Womens Lib!

In loving memory of THOMAS the beloved husband of ELIZA HALL who died January 4th, 1888 aged 63 years also the above named ELIZA HALL who died October 10th, 1909 aged 80 years.
Also PRUDENCE ANN daughter who died July 13th, 1884 aged 19 years.

Eliza married John ALBINSON, son of Thomas ALBINSON, on 4 Oct 1852 in Prestbury St.Peter, Macclesfield, Cheshire.¹ (John ALBINSON was born about 1834.)

Eliza next married Thomas HALL, son of John HALL and Martha JOHNSON, on 9 Jun 1856 in Prestbury St.Peter, Macclesfield, Cheshire.² (Thomas HALL was born in 1826 in Macclesfield, Cheshire, christened on 26 Nov 1826 in Christ Church, Macclesfield, Cheshire, died on 4 Jan 1888 in Moss Side, Manchester and was buried on 8 Jan 1888 in Macclesfield Cemetery, Cheshire.)
