Joseph Frith was Macclesfield's first Registrar when the cemetery opened in 1866. He died in 1887 and was followed by Alfred Frith for a few years - he must be some sort of relative. Interestingly when Joseph was taken ill and for a few weeks after his death the grants and registers were signed by an Isabel Frith (not his wife) which is an early strike for Womens Lib!

Thomas married Eliza LOVATT, daughter of William Oliver Heywood LOVATT and Mary BRIDGE, on 9 Jun 1856 in Prestbury St.Peter, Macclesfield, Cheshire.1 (Eliza LOVATT was born on 28 Jun 1829 in Chester, Cheshire, christened on 26 Jul 1829 in Queen Street Congregational or Independent, Chester, died on 10 Oct 1909 in Rusholme, Manchester and was buried on 16 Oct 1909 in Macclesfield Cemetery, Cheshire.)
Marriage Notes:
Eliza was previously married to John ALBINSON and was widowed. Eliza's Father, however is shown as a Shop-keeper, which begs the question of her coming from a "horse and carriage" family. Eliza made her "mark" on the Certificate, which questions why she could not sign, given her alleged origin.
